Goodbye Jermy's public restrooms!

We live an active lifestyle and either travel on the weekends or take our 2 year old twins to the gym. Since they are both potty trained I find it important to ensure they have constant access to the potty while we are away from home. After visiting numerous public restrooms and hearing my twin say "Mom, open up" every time we entered a public restroom, I decided to look for a portable potty. When it arrived it was significantly smaller than I expected and I appreciated that it came with a storage bag that I used for both the potty and seat liners. This potty was first used on a 3.5 hour trip out of state and we were all so thankful to have it in the car. Like others, I didn't take it out initially (because I hadn't read the instructions) and kept it upright while my child went to the bathroom. I later discovered that the legs needed to be inserted in order for the potty to be strong and carry the child. Once I understand that, I highly recommend placing the pot on a flat surface. We used it in the car at a field gas station (for our kids' safety). I have both a girl and a boy so I was a little worried about how the seat would work as we are used to using either a toilet seat liner or a Bjorn baby potty which protects little boys urination well. It doesn't close as well as a Bjorn baby pot or a raised front pot, but you can always help your child. The inserts work very well and are easy to attach to the pot legs. They touch the ground between the pots, which works well as you can ensure that a significant amount of material can be safely collected from the pot. Before using it for the first time, I didn't realize that pads actually work the same way as a diaper and absorb some of the contents of the potty. This allowed me to easily remove the bag and store it in the car until we found the bin. To be honest it was great. It's convenient and life-saving when you're not on the toilet and your little one needs to go immediately. However, I would say that it's important to teach the child to hold on for a while, so we only use the potty when we know it's urgent or that it's going to be a long time before we get to the bathroom. Speaking of pot size. Pot. My kids are below average. However, I think that this is not enough. For example, my kids might ask for help or they might sink in a bit, meaning it's not like a normal potty where they can just lean back and sit down; this is slightly below the comfort level. It would be great if the legs were a few inches longer. However, this turned out to be no problem and I know they prefer this option to public toilets, as I do. We plan to use it in the back of our car at the state fair. My only advice would be to have a towel or something to cover your kids in case you need to use it outside or in the back of the car. We use it on the back seat floor of our SUV as we have enough space and privacy. As I mentioned earlier this product is great and I would recommend it to anyone who is potty trained or needs access to a potty when travelling.
