I used it at my sons wedding (August is hot in the cape) It has 2 different cooling mechanisms - one is a plate on the back of the head - the other is a fan that located on both sides along the perimeter of the strip. Both have a separate fan. You can use both or one cooling method. Unfortunately, both methods sucked small strands of hair into the hooks. My hair was pinned on top of my head, but I have small strands of hair on my neck and temples, so that didn't work for me. My son liked it. Also the first fan sent didn't work and the customer service was 100% great - they sent a replacement to the wedding address asap with no questions asked.
