As for kitty litter.... Well, let's just say, over the years I've literally walked the gamut! Out of sheer frustration with fillers that make empty promises and in my relentless search for something more sustainable, I recently tried Hinoki Wood & Green Tea Filler. The price was almost a deal breaker, but I argued that it might just be the logical choice if it works as suggested in the reviews and stated in the usage description. So I decided to give it a try. First: It sticks together! Priority #1 because I don't have a full day to go through the trash and the smell of urine is really bothering (high levels of ammonia, etc.). It can sometimes be a little "sticky" when removed while still very fresh, but this material forms a ball firm enough to be removed by light sieving. You may need to look for a scoop with the right size holes or slots to accommodate the litter's properties - something like All Bran Oatmeal (sorry for the analogy) - but that's a minor catch. A big plus is that there is no sticky mass at the bottom of the bowl. As long as the level is kept at the recommended level, the urine will stick together before reaching the bottom of the bowl. Contacted the company out of curiosity about what they use as a clumping agent: potato starch. As long as you scoop daily, clumps can be removed without leaving a mess in the pot. Second, you can actually get rid of pee balls by flushing! I really didn't want to do this regularly for fear of clogged pipes etc. But (to my amazement) this product quickly dissolves into an easy-to-rinse "suspension" within seconds of immersion in water! There is no longer a need to collect all "urine bullets" in a separate bag system to dispose of later when the odor enters the room (especially in the wetter summer months). I'm so-oooooooooooooooooooo Oh that's in the past now! Third: Eliminates any urine odor COMPLETELY! Although I'm fussy about scooping twice (sometimes thrice) a day, I still smell my cat's urine. But with the Hinoki & Green Tea formula, the urine balls form tight enough to be removed with a light strainer, and they just don't have a bad smell. On the other hand, poop is poop... it will only smell a little bit until hinoki and green tea can neutralize it. Then just nothing; without smell. Fourth, tracking is minimal. I'm a realist and litters will have some sort of tracking no matter what. But it's smaller than all the others I've tried (clay, walnut, okokat, cat's pine, etc. etc.). Although I've tried clumping pine litter (Feline Fresh) recently, it doesn't clump very well for urine removal (it dissolves easily); didn't really neutralize the smell of urine; and he tracked fine dust in addition to debris in the two rooms closest to the box. not the home run I was looking for. Log in to Weruva and the problem is almost completely solved. There are only a few pellets within half a meter of the crate and that's it. Easy enough to sweep up and put back in the box. Almost dust-free. Fifth, the icing on the cake, to borrow a phrase, is that it's eco-friendly. I'm happy to know that I'm not adding another stressor to the Earth's fragile ecosystem by choosing this litter and that it's eco-friendly. In short, this is the real deal! This cat litter holds the bar against which others should be compared. I think I've finally found the holy grail of kitty litter! Truly the best cat litter I've ever used. However, I rarely take the time to write about good or bad products, but I felt I had to make an exception in this case. PS - Passed a 11.7 oz. Bag between 2 large bowls (6 adult cats) after about 3 1/2 - 4 weeks. I just wish the product came in larger quantities: 15-20 lb bags. (Could be an import issue since it's made in Japan.) Instead, I'd like to offer a discount if I buy more than one large bag at a time. let's say 10-20%(?) .

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
