I got this portable about 10 days ago and listened/scand almost every day. Getting started with the device was easy. Just enter your zip code and you're all set. Upgrades were easy with Sentinel software. This can be a satisfied customer rating. However, after several days of trying to figure out what a scan is, I think there are serious problems. 1- Emergency Absence: I live in a relatively small town (population 20,000) and was a little frustrated because I didn't know about local issues. We've had landslides and even fires leading to checkpoints to the point of townspeople evacuating. Our schools close from time to time. Or just an accident on a slippery road. Well we just had a quarantine at school and. Nothing. I got school emails but nothing is sent. Yesterday I heard ambulances not too far away, nothing. The scanner has the correct frequencies according to various websites, it's just that the local police may be encrypted making the scan useless. Or do they use other undocumented channels? Anyway, two emergencies and nothing on the scanner yet. 2- Deprecated design: - The screen is difficult to read - You can scan batteries or charge them, but not both at the same time. Why no docking station? It really should have two scanners in one. I mean it takes at least 10 seconds to go through my programmed channels. I think I missed some conversations because he decided to leave the first dialogue due to the 2 second break.
