Poor spout seal good for hazardous materials
After installing the spout the second time, I leaked gas through the spout. This happened due to the fact that the seal failed. The replacement gasket is thinner and has a square profile. The original gasket is thicker and has a rounded profile. It looks like installing the spout nut literally ripped off the end of the gasket. I ended up using the original that was over 30 years old and still worked.
