After reading that raised dog food can cause potentially fatal flatulence in large breed dogs like German Shepherds, and that slow munching can cause dental problems with prolonged use, I figured the solution would be a simple buy this tray and use it to distribute the food for my puppies so they can eat slower. The tray is big enough to fit in her 64-ounce travel refreshment bowl while still leaving enough room for me to spill her food around. The tray's raised edges and slightly ribbed surface keep the food on the tray rather than the floor, and beige was a good neutral choice for my kitchen. After eating, my 15 week old foster pup loves to curl up on the tray and relax next to his water bowl. Also, whoever packed my order mistakenly included an extra tray which the seller told me to keep, so I used it for the Petsafe food bowl I bought from Revain, around 3.4 months to feed old kittens we adopted. Divider with Revain cardboard and clear packaging tape so food falls onto tray in 2 stacks for easy access by 3 growing kittens. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tray for both cats and dogs. I might consider adding a napkin to each tray to make regular cleaning even quicker, but trays work well.
