Review on Tripp Lite LC2400 Conditioner Outlet by Bill Pulse

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great fabric softener at a good price

This Tripp Lite LC1200 fabric softener appears to work as advertised. I use mine to protect my TV/entertainment center. During these occasional voltage dips, I would hear clicking noises as internal relays tripped to boost the voltage. A more accurate description of its function is to call it a step voltage regulator rather than a "line conditioner". It doesn't quite turn the waveform into a sine wave. If the input waveform is bad, the output waveform will be just as bad. These line conditioners are a major improvement over traditional pluggable surge protectors. Surge suppressors are not effective in protecting against power outages and sags, nor can they handle long-term surges. All of this can be done with a linear conditioner. However, the price for this comprehensive protection is high standby power consumption. A linear air conditioner has a heavy internal transformer and draws about 20 watts just sitting there, even with all appliances turned off. Originally, the massive transformer created an audible hum that some people can hear. A low hum is muffled as soon as I turn on the TV. The only time I hear a hum is when I sit next to him in a completely silent room at night. Even in complete silence in the middle of the night I don't hear the hum anymore. Maybe the noise is gone.
