Review on FiiO BTA30: Advanced Wireless Bluetooth 5.0 Long Range πŸ”Š Transmitter Receiver for PC/TV/Speaker/Headphone with HiFi Dac/DSP and Streamlined APP Control by Stacey Vang

Good, not so good and ugly transmitter

I use it as a transmitter to listen on headphones anywhere in the apartment. like all fiio products, nice design, solid assembly. The sound quality is excellent with Aptx. I need to update my receiver to try other codecs. i would say about 50% more range than my taotronics ba07. I still don't have a good reliable connection in my kitchen which is about 25ft from the transmitter through walls etc. The documentation isn't great, but it's not that hard to figure out. I really like the LED color coding to let you know about the codec. It's not so good. The manual didn't mention that you need to download the app to adjust the settings. The app is pretty limited so I figured I'd try updating the firmware on the device to see if it added any options. I could not update the firmware after downloading it. It's Windows only and I'm running Windows through Fusion on my Mac, so that might be my problem. I hope that with updated firmware and applications, bta30 will improve its functions and usability. I cannot use the device as a DAC and Bluetooth transmitter at the same time. When you switch to broadcast mode, the RCA outputs are disabled. So I can't send audio to other devices and stream audio to headphones at the same time. before bta30 i used behringer uca202 usb powered dac. It can simultaneously connect RCA headphones, 3.5mm and optical digital outputs. I was hoping for a similar functionality from fiio. no such luck.
