I like how easy it was to use Factorie compared to other tools out there we've used before; also liked being able to create models using only our data set instead of having someone else do all this work up front - which can be very time consuming! The documentation could have been more thorough/in-depth (some things are not explained well at first). We were trying learn about Bayesian networks but didn't really understand them until after reading some tutorials online or watching videos from Stanford's CS294 class "Introduction To Probability". If you're doing research into probability then definitely check these resources out because they helped us better grasp what each part actually does / means when applied together. Better understanding probabilities allowed me to get my head around why certain results came across so differently than others did. Also made sure everything added up correctly. And yes, learning through trial & error works too :) This has given me confidence knowing I'm making good decisions.
