Very pretty when lit. Not so attractive when not in use. Installed in our old 36" x 27" chimney. Are you planning to paint our cream fireplace insert black to make it a better match. Purchased in combination with the matching expandable black fireplace surround and Comfort Smart Fire Crackle for an authentic sound of fire. The end result is very realistic, especially at night. Just installed this yesterday and plan to use it for ambiance only and not for heating. For the money it was a good deal. Update: After about a week of running (about five hours a day) with just the flame element, the engine started humming, which wasn't there before. I've really enjoyed it up to this point. Nice atmosphere. My husband wants me to return it. We'll see if it gets worse this weekend. Update 2: The hum has gotten louder. Checked with the manufacturer to see if the hum is abnormal. The manufacturer offered to send spare parts, but acknowledged that replacing them would be difficult and would require dismantling the logs and engine. I then called Revain and they generously agreed to replace him. I've been using the replacement device for several months without any problems. The return was painless. Thank you Reven
