Review on LG SN6Y Channel Audio Virtual by Hayden Tang

I bought this with an LG TV and at first it didn't work at all. Plugged in, no power. Played around with it for a few hours. I went through the return process and asked for a replacement. And still messing around with him for half a day. I measured the power supply, +25.6 VDC looks good. Upset the next day, finally, he kind of turned around. I think you need to hold down the power button for a few seconds when it's plugged in for the first time. Very bad, terrible, minimal instructions don't tell to do it. I mean they are seriously bad. 20 pages of warnings and a few paragraphs that don't say much. For example, hold the button until ten, and maybe it will finally turn on. Now it turns on normally via the remote control (wasn't there before), but the audio is honestly nothing special. It's actually not as loud as the TV's internal speakers! 420 watts in my back. I switch between ARC (which works well), optical, internal, optical + internal, tried every combination and it just doesn't add much volume when both are on. The subwoofer works, but not very well either. If it's a soundbar (and subwoofer), it's not as loud as just LG's internal speakers. BUT? I'm an engineer, a former electronics engineer, so I know how to do this. Why build a soundbar that can't produce more dB than built-in speakers? Why not make the soundbar an inch taller and upgrade the speakers inside? Or maybe some idiot designer has limited the maximum volume it can put out. Who knows? In any case, these and the replacement will be returned. What a waste of time. Make. no Obtain.
