Not sure why this kettle has such a high rating. The glass is very thin and when I took it out of the box I knew it would break in the near future. The tip of the spout broke when I hand washed it by tapping it lightly on a mug in the sink. The tip of the spout is now serrated glass. Also, I had trouble maintaining the temperature when brewing tea. Because the glass is so thin the pot doesn't heat up very well and I had trouble keeping the tea hot just a few minutes after pouring. This also affects the quality of the brew, as the tea needs to be brewed at certain temperatures in order to brew properly. For people who care about the quality of their tea I would invest in something that will last more than a few months and can actually keep the water hot.
