Review on High-Quality Apple MFI Certified Aux Lightning Cord - iPhone Audio Link to Car Jack, Headphones & Speakers - Black by Michael Welborn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Solid build - Lightning connector issues after 5 months

Works as described. I'm always a bit skeptical of MFi branded products sold at Revain, especially as I've never heard of Thore, but this claim is legitimate as my iPhone XS never showed a warning about the associated accessory when connected. I use this cable to connect my Fiio Q5 to my iPhone as the Micro USB to Lighting connector that came with the Q5 was too short to be useful without a case. I have not used or tested this cable connected to my car, home stereo or computer, so I cannot say with certainty that there will be no sound quality issues when connecting an iDevice to such devices with this cable connect. At the same time, I don't know the technical reason for this as there seems to be no problem using this cable for its intended purpose; Issues will almost certainly be source and/or destination device related. The sound quality with this cable is excellent. Using balanced headphone cables (mini XLR - XLR - 2.5mm TRRS and Shure compatible - 2.5mm TRRS) for my headphones (Audeze LCD-2 and Shure 1540) connected to my Q5 and then to my iPhone connected made absolutely no difference in sound quality. Sound quality compared to a digital-to-digital connection using a micro USB to Lightning cable. The build quality is solid. The cable is durable. It's wrapped in a woven fabric (synthetic?) that offers a strong but not bulky thickness that also helps keep the cord from becoming overly kinked or pinched. The size of the connector itself doesn't appear to be any different than any official Apple Lightning cable connector. The only issue and the only reason I'm not giving this product a full 5 star rating for durability and value is that after about five months of use, every time I connected it to my iPhone, Siri kicked in. At first I was wondering if this issue is related to iOS and the support of some third-party devices that connect to my iPhone via Lightning. This issue has been ruled out, and depending on why I'm using it and what Fiio Q5 I'm using it with, connecting the device to my iPhone with a Belkin MFi 3.5mm to Lightning cable didn't solve Siri that much out. I didn't want to wait for a replacement or pay for this product in hopes that Siri would stop triggering, so I bought and used a slightly more expensive 3.5mm to Lightning cable from Belkin and didn't have the same issue. It's possible that other users haven't had, and won't have, the same connection issues that I did. However, it's worth noting that I've never had a problem with the Belkin MFi and their other products made for Apple. So if you have the extra money to spend, I would suggest thinking about it before you buy. Other than that, this is a great cable and you get the quality you expect for the price.
