Good price - hence 5 stars

The tools are strong and beautiful, and the price of the set is completely satisfied - that's why I gave 5 stars. The tone it comes with isn't very good but I guess it's a way of making sure the kit is working properly and maybe you expect to get a better quality tone from another manufacturer? Quit making clay with my baby. The first batch (from the usually excellent art blog Artful Parent) was a disaster, but the second batch (from the My Heavenly Recipes blog) was great. Much better than…

Not impressed and concerned about safety

I liked that there were several different types of tools in the set. However, when I received it the wooden punches were not very well made - I wasn't expecting such a rough and shoddy finish for a toy for young children, I don't even want to give my child some of the pieces in case they chip off and injure him in the process. The clay itself was individually sealed, but one or two colors didn't appear as fresh as the others. I've seen Melissa and Doug sold all over the place but this is my…

Great sculpting tool set

I saw some bad reviews about this set but we really like it. The dough that comes with the set looks a bit sad - the containers are tiny and to be honest I didn't even dare to open them. We used it with playdough and my little one loves these tools so much we have had to make playdough several times a day since I brought them last week. Stamps may not be particularly exciting for an older child, but for a two-year-old the idea of plasticine stamps is intriguing. He particularly enjoys using…

Great dough tool

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter to use with her bake toys in the kitchen and she loves it. She loves to bake and roll out dough for cookies and cakes and she imitates that very well. She really enjoys using all the rolling pins and watching the different patterns they create as well as the stamps. When she first opened it, she played with it for over an hour. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the putty is a bit difficult to handle and has an odd smell. The smell doesn't…

Excellent variety, but the finish needs improvement.

The Melissa & Doug Mold, Model and Shape Set offers your child lots of opportunities to play with clay or Play-Doh. Three rolling pins, smooth, grooved and with a mesh pattern, give free rein to creativity. The set is rounded off by five mold blocks and a pressure roller as well as four small containers with lids including animal figures for modelling. All the details are on a practical wooden tray. Like other Melissa & Doug toys, the form, form, and form set is a standout concept that needs a…

  • Little Stuff

I bought this set to work on wrist stability and functional play with our son who has a long list of diagnoses, that both are associated with global developmental delays. Right now we're using this as part of the Nonverbal Imitation (NVI) goal, but wrist stability is a big thing I'm hoping for from her as it's an important area to develop a tripod grip with pens. I bought this one, unlike other roller sets, for 3 reasons: 1) two of the rolling pins have patterns they print into the clay and I…
