Review on Smith Optics Tactical Sunglasses in Gunmetal: Advanced Eye Protection for Tactical Professionals by Justin Dorsett

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I thought I had found a pair of sunglasses worth the price. I was wrong.

I've had a lot of bad luck with sunglasses in recent years. I've bought several expensive sunglasses including brands like Revo, Arnette, Bolle, Carrera etc and ended up with nothing but junk. I had a pair of $300 sunglasses that fell out after a few weeks. I've basically sworn off most brands. I found these Smiths while looking for the best eye protection for shooting and other outdoor activities. I ordered them very carefully and was very pleasantly surprised when I received them. When I picked it up, I immediately felt how powerful the design is. Build quality is excellent, comfortable. The lenses are clear and sharp. ------ Update: I've changed my rating to reflect the fact that the shackles fell off of you yesterday. I just wore them and they fell off. Looks like glue or solder didn't work. So much for the Mil-Spec. I guess I should be glad they didn't let me down at the shooting range. They come with a lifetime warranty, so I expect Smith to fix or replace them. However, the warranty doesn't protect my eyes from the sun for the next few weeks, so I'll have to buy another pair to use it. They will not be Smiths.
