Review on Enhance Desktop Connectivity with J-Tech Digital PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 2-Port Expansion Card by Scott Rodriguez

Works well but seems fragile

I bought this reader to transfer video files from my Canon 7D DSLR (CF card) to a computer on the go. I haven't been able to test the USB3.0 speed yet), I'm worried about the build quality of the device. The reader is all plastic (cheap, lightweight plastic), which is to be expected (especially at this price point), but the CF connector is pretty flat, so I'm concerned the pins will bend when the person uses it not is very careful when inserting the card. If the port were deeper or there was more of a body that would act as a grommet/channel to keep the card in line when plugged in I wouldn't be as concerned, but as it stands I'm not sure how how long it takes This thing will last. last thing. If you're looking for a cheap reader that will get the job done but might not last long, this is it. When you are looking for something durable for use in harsh environments and you want it to last. I would suggest looking elsewhere. Pros: USB 3.0 reads CF and SD (as well as MS, XD, TF and M2) comes with USB 3.0 ribbon cable (although it's quite short) cheap and small Cons: CF connector build quality isn't deep enough (probably bent pins) LED flashes to indicate it's on (not just file transfer) - constant flashing is annoying (not sure if it's supposed to work that way, but mine definitely keeps flashing even when there are no files) Transfer - it is intermittent - Sometimes the light stays on
