Okay, but the screws that come with it don't work! TOO SHORT!

I just bought this kit for my 2003 Toyota Matrix. This was my first experience of installing a car radio myself. In any case, the instructions in this kit are good. This was pretty easy to follow with some diagrams. However, I wasn't sure what the difference between the DIN and ISO instructions was. It would be nice if the instructions explained the differences between ISO and DIN. In any case, I used DIN for Pioneer's single DIN head unit. Here's the main problem. Including 8 screws. 4 tiny and the remaining 4 medium screws (the exact dimensions are in the instructions). In any case, the 4 tiny screws are TOO SHORT! No matter how hard I squeeze the plastic pieces together (the "pocket" and the back support piece) and how hard I squeeze the screwdriver, the screws are just too short to grab the plastic and twist it together. I basically had to look around my garage for longer bolts of the same diameter and thickness. These screws worked like a charm. I just had to be careful that the excess length of those screws, which I had to drive in myself, didn't poke through the plastic and break the damn thing. I can't believe Metra didn't recognize this issue and purposely supply the wrong bolts in their kits. The 4 middle screws are fine though. After this error, everything else worked for my setup.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • No power
