Haven't used the backpack yet but got it as carry on and filled it with everything I needed. Things I need to take with me when I travel. This bag suits me very well. I always have a change of clothes, toiletries and snacks with me and I think everything fits. There is a hidden zippered pocket on the back, just below the strap that goes over the suitcase handle. It opens to the bottom for easy packing, which is important to me as I don't want to stuff stuff into the bottom of my pack. There is a pocket on the side for a water bottle or an umbrella. Front pockets hold small items, and there's a padded, zippered laptop sleeve. There is also a place for shoes with a zipper; not sure if i will use it. This wasn't the first backpack I bought. I ordered another brand that opens side to side like a regular suitcase, but it wasn't deep enough for me and I had trouble with the zipper. I'm sending another one back. The only feature I would have liked from this backpack would be foldable shoulder straps, but none of the backpacks I tried had them and I couldn't find another backpack of this size with this feature. Overall I think this backpack is exactly what I was looking for.
