I bought an 8m f2.8 lens for my Fuji xpro2. I had this fisheye lens for Sony Alpha and Sony Nex so I was familiar with it. Image quality was good. Two weeks later I also bought this 12mm f2. I was so impressed with the 12mm that I sent the fisheye back. Fisheye is good for small experiments with weird effects. But I got tired of it quickly. I couldn't accept edge distortion. The 12mm F2 isn't as wide, but it delivers excellent image quality and virtually no distortion, depending on what you're shooting. Photoshop can correct any distortion that 12mm introduces, not so with fisheye, but why would you need that with fisheye. Speaking of manual focus. I set it to infinity or a little shy and can focus anything from 4-5ft to infinity. It focuses out to 7 inches, which is amazing for a wide-angle lens. I found that the Split Image and Focus Pull features don't work for me. I just use standard focus and zoom in when shooting from less than 4-5 feet. This is great for portrait photography to tell a story.
