Experience has taught me that many metals are absorbed through the skin and cause serious problems with the nervous system. Light metals, especially aluminium, can be particularly harmful: aluminum crosses the blood-brain barrier and becomes permanently lodged in the brain's synapses, blocking nerve function. To be on the safe side, stick to precious metals or non-metallic jewelry. This is based on personal experience and research to understand the side effects I have experienced.
