I bought these to hold the playing fields on Susan's lazy turntable. The magnets are inserted into the top of the platter and I use 1 1/4" washers attached to the bottom of the boards with the same 8" square of 4 pieces. They are perfect for this purpose. The Go board has been tested in the model and the chess board will also work. Cautionary Warning! The central countersink that contains the screws is a real magnet, not a shielding metal. You will need to pre-drill the pilot hole with a small drill and hand tighten the screws. I learned the hard way after cracking one that they require a light touch when tightening the screws. As others have said don't let them hit each other, gently push them together or pull them apart and watch what they approach because they will break it and it will be difficult to separate the magnet and the object when it is small. Very satisfied except I had to replace a broken magnet. AGAIN THE MOUNTING SCREWS MUST BE HAND TIGHTENED ONLY.
