Great stool when assembled

This stool is strong and sturdy. The tree on mine looks great. It's functional and looks good. Montage comes with challenges that can be overcome. Hex head screws and a small hex wrench are included for attaching components. The screws are difficult to align properly and are very difficult to turn with the included wrench. The wrench is small and doesn't give much power. The screws go into pre-drilled holes on the ends of the dowels holding the legs together. The fit is very snug, which is good news in terms of durability. Just make sure to line them up straight or you might get stuck trying to make a new hole. The hardest part can be the final tightening, which can be extremely difficult. There are two things you can do to help. One of them (which will be obvious) is to hold the stylus with one hand while operating the wrench with the other hand to prevent the stylus from turning. Second, use your own hand-held hex screwdriver for a tighter grip. Or use a locking wrench or vise wrench to hold and turn the included hex key and it will be a lot easier with the added leverage. When assembled, the stool feels and looks remarkably sturdy.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • A questionable purchase for the elderly
