Review on πŸŽ’ Carhartt Legacy Backpack with 17-inch Compartment - Optimized for SEO by Josue Porter

The perfect bag if it weren't for the straps.

I like this bag because it has 3 big compartments, 2 smaller compartments and 2 side pockets. In addition, you have organization pockets in these compartments. So it's not just a big space to put things in. It's also very durable, has a heavy-duty fabric, and can stand upright so you don't have to lay it flat and put all your weight on the laptop. I do not like it. Bag because 1) the straps on this bag are not positioned correctly. Instead of the top of the straps being sewn to the very top edge of the top of the bag, they are sewn about 1" below the top (see image where I compare to another book bag I have). This makes carrying the bag on just one shoulder almost impossible. It keeps slipping off my shoulders because the position of the strap causes the top of the bag to tilt. If you use both shoulder straps, the bag won't just hang like a regular backpack unless the straps are too tight. The bottom of the bag actually sits on the tailbone while the top protrudes. So you have that gap between the top of the bag and your shoulders, and the bag keeps bouncing on your butt as you walk. I think this is the biggest design flaw. So why not just get the straps really tight, you ask? Since the quick release buckles are designed for heavy loads, you have to make an effort to undo the straps, which I think is a good thing. 2) The amount of "padding" in what I believe to be the laptop compartment is almost non-existent. It literally doesn't exist, to be honest, and I wouldn't put my personal laptop in it unless it came pre-packaged in a padded case. I don't care about my work laptop, so yeah, I'd throw it in there. If you care about your work laptop, don't put it there. Finally 3) the padded pocket at the top, which is usually used for glasses in other pockets, does not fit a pair of glasses. It does not fit normal glasses. It doesn't fit reading glasses. If you have a toddler and they have kids sunglasses, it MIGHT fit. I don't know what Carhartt was thinking when they did it. I actually collect bags so I just keep them otherwise they would be returned.

Pros
  • Special padded backpack for up to 17" laptop with front zip organizer
Cons
  • Slightly torn
