I was looking for a backpack to replace my 15+ year old Samsonite that had reached the end of the road. I wanted something that would allow me to use the wheels at all times, but also quickly switch to straps without having to close or open the compartment/flap first. The quick switch between carrying as a backpack and hauling as a wheeled bag doesn't disappoint. This is especially important to me when boarding or disembarking a plane as I have historically driven over 200,000 miles a year, which is a lot of flights. I've made half a dozen flights with this bag already, not to mention lugging it to the office almost daily when I'm not traveling, and it's worked great both with a backpack and on my bike. . Pocket. To switch between them, just grab the handle and drop the bag on the floor. I just put the straps in a pocket next to the handle exit when not in use to shorten them a bit so they don't get in the way of the wheels. You don't have to unhook them, although you can unhook them and move them out of sight if you like. Speaking of straps, they are quite long (actual nylon material, no frayed bits) but instead of cutting them I bought a pair of 1" webbing end clips. Holder with quick release. on the ground while using the wheels - works like a charm. The compartments themselves are just right for my needs - I particularly like the laptop sleeve in the main compartment, which keeps my computer and/or tablet from sliding around everywhere. There's also a separate, slimmer, zipped compartment that's perfect for my laptops, and even has a mesh pocket to stash items when needed (the perfect secondary electronic device). Smaller zippered pockets provide ample space and options to store all my small items (keys, wireless mouse, headphones, pens, book balm, travel snacks, driving gloves, etc. etc.). I would love the double zips in a small pocket on the top as I always feel like I need it to be able to access it from the opposite side where the zip is, but it's such a minor quibble and for that The features of this bag could not be better for the price. The large bottom pocket has a nice zippered interior as well as multiple pen pockets to keep things neat and organized. The side mesh pockets are deep, but they'll comfortably hold things like an umbrella and water bottle. The wheels are pretty quiet, although the zippers are a bit noisier than some other bags. Not a deal breaker for me. Some people might not like that you can't cover the wheels when using it as a backpack, but that's not a problem for me as I wash the wheels often and tend to wear a darker and/or washable outer layer, if i want it I'm considering using it as a backpack in case I'm carrying dirt. So far that hasn't been a problem, but I also don't want to drag it through mud, puddles or anything else that might pick up nasty things. Just prior to purchasing this bag I spent over $200 on an Everki Atlas bag which had similar features albeit some higher quality materials. Ultimately I bought this bag because with Everki I just couldn't: 1) get used to opening/unlocking the flap to hide/unlock the wheels when switching between wheeled bag and backpack mode, and 2) the price is wow. This bag is almost the same size and has exactly what I need for a fraction of the price. I hope it stands up to the travel demands I have in mind!
