Although the manufacturer is based in China they are based on traditional Japanese Samue and are a good choice if you are looking for a functional/working Samue. The fabric material and stitched connections are quite strong, although you may find that the first part to tear is your inner/outer ligaments as they take all the stress of the movement. The color also starts to fade the more you wear these Samues to work and sweat. However, by simply repainting, you can re-dye your clothes once or twice a year to keep them looking new. (Although you would have lost the two toned yarn colors from the original design.) These are best used in mild and cool weather as the open jacket is more like a Haori or Hanten, while the closed jacket is distinctly Samue - all in an agricultural/ horticultural context and not for social events (festivals, ceremonies). Personally, I like to use these Samues as an outerwear/cardigan/jacket for thinner and lighter Samues for added warmth and a bit more durability. The weave of the cloth is thick enough to avoid all non-abrasive abrasives such as soil, river rocks, and vegetation that consists primarily of leaves. However, avoid wearing them or anything other than denim or tarpaulin, sammue, hanten or haori with thorns/thorns/sharp grinders as cotton and most poly blends are prone to snagging and ruining your samue. All in all, this is an economical and highly functional Samue for everyday farming/horticulture use, with some caveats when the outdoor work gets prickly.🌲🌲🌲
