First, although I couldn't figure it out from the tech notes, the cord is 6 feet long. Plus since an ad says it's only 1 foot long. Second, I have three old HP LaserJet printers - one 4MP and two 5MP - each with at least two toner cartridges. Workhorses, ideal for black and white printing of manuals and other documents. Spending money to print them on new color inkjet printers is foolish. I had no problem getting it to work on Win7 but no luck on Win10. I continue to work on this latest platform as I see that a few have managed to get it working. But in the meantime, I just converted an old Win7 PC that I was planning to throw away into a black and white print server for my home network. I bought a second cable to connect two LaserJet printers. One for printing standard pages, the other for envelopes. I can't believe how little they cost and how easy it was to get them working. By the way, there are no actual instructions. My manual told me to plug the end of the USB cable into the computer and the printer port into the printer. Seriously, that was it. Of course that was all I needed. I didn't know how to rate the tech support as I don't need it, although there was a way to contact them and ask for help with a Win 10 issue. Late note: I have no idea why this didn't work. The first time but the second time I tried the adapter with a Win 10 PC, it worked perfectly. No settings. Just connect both ends of the cable and find the printer on your PC. The correct printer is displayed. Just a few days ago I received two more LaserJet 4 printers along with almost full toner cartridges. I will buy at least one more adapter and these printers will have a new life.
