This did a great job of getting my old HP LaserJet 4 Plus workhorse back up and running. I found a few tricks to use it with constant success. 1) If you connect it through a hub, it may show up as a USB serial device and not a USB printer. In my case it won't work. More often than not, when plugging the USB cable directly into my MacBook Pro (dual booting MacOS x and Win 7), the connection worked as expected. 2) Do not install drivers from HP or other websites. Will not work with computer accessories and peripherals

Item appears normal and "tried" to work when connected. Unfortunately it does not work with XP 64. Pro and HP Laserjet 5P. Everything is fine with the printer, everything is fine with the computer. It was just an AMD 2+ 64 build from years ago that didn't run parallel ports. I've tried other cables that just lay there without even registering. So it was an "improvement" in that regard. I tried product support with Sabrent as stated on the sleeve that came with the cable. There were no "manuals"

I have no idea why this thing works. but it is so!

First, although I couldn't figure it out from the tech notes, the cord is 6 feet long. Plus since an ad says it's only 1 foot long. Second, I have three old HP LaserJet printers - one 4MP and two 5MP - each with at least two toner cartridges. Workhorses, ideal for black and white printing of manuals and other documents. Spending money to print them on new color inkjet printers is foolish. I had no problem getting it to work on Win7 but no luck on Win10. I continue to work on this latestโ€ฆ
