This dress was exactly what I was looking for! I love it. I'm 5'3, size 14/16 and XL fits perfectly. He hit me right in the knees, so if you're taller than me, he'll definitely be shorter than me. It's light but not see-through. I wore black under my clothes and everything was fine. The armholes are slightly larger so be aware your bra may show through unless you're wearing a jacket or sweater over it. I pull a denim jacket over mine. You can definitely wear it with both dressy and casual looks. Perfect!
