Review on Rhodia Graph Reverse Standard Notebook, One Notebook, Black by Josh Ramos

I was torn on how many stars to give this review, but I believe I'm being generous with the two stars based on the poor quality of Rhodia's new inks.Rhodia has decided to go "green," and are in the process of changing their inks to vegetable based dye.I have been using the Rhodia notebooks for over ten years. I like the quality of the paper. It works well with fountain pen ink. I especially like the grid print, which, up until now, has been a very faint purplish grey with a line weight about the thickness of a pin point.I was surprised when I received my new Reverse book. The grid has the thickness and quality of the cheap graph paper I used to buy as a kid. The lines were a deep dark blue about the thickness of a pin itself - not the pin point as usual. And the lines are smeared. They look is if the ink hadn't dried when the next sheet was replaced on top. When first looking at a sheet, something just seems wrong. When examined with a magnified glass, one can see how much the ink has smeared.I contacted Pen Boutique who contacted Rhodia. To make a long story short, Rhodia says they are trying to work on solving the ink problem. In the meantime their notebooks will vary greatly from batch to batch. I confirmed this with Rhodia. What is very frustrating is the impression I received from Rhodia is that they don't really care. They seem to believe that customers will be happy that the inks are more environmentally friendly and won't care about the quality of the print. Pen Boutique replaced my notebook but the replacement wasn't much better.It's a shame. I use several of Rhodia's notebooks, from their meeting book to the smaller stapled versions. I'll be looking for replacements.
