Increases effective water pressure, wide jet Nice

Bought to replace an old narrow shower head that was constantly clogging and had to be removed to drill holes. The stem, which screws into the waterline, is chromed steel. The housing is made of plastic. What do you like: 1. We have a well pump and our water pressure ranges from 40psi to 60psi. At the end of the cycle, the jet from our shower head can become quite weak. I didn't notice any difference with this shower head and there was plenty of water to wash the shampoo out of my hair. The beam is good and wide. 3. It increases the effective water pressure, which is a big plus.4. In the product description, the first picture shows the shower pattern, which we like. It's a consistent pattern and the water feels like a torrential downpour. In the second and fourth picture shown, some or all of the water is coming out of the center, the holes in the core look like a jet. This is good if you want to direct water to sore muscles. Installation is really quick. Simply unscrew your existing shower head, remove the old teflon tape, stick it back on and screw on your new shower head. I used a 7/8" open-end wrench on flat surfaces, folded a piece of paper towel in half and placed it in the jaws of the wrench to avoid scratching the surface and to give the wrench a tighter fit. There were no leaks. What I didn't like: I found the 3rd and 5th patterns useless, especially the 5th which is similar to the first with very low water pressure. I suppose you could use it to wash your houseplants. But since these templates are just extras, I'm not lowering my rating for that. Finally, the fact that the metal part is chrome steel rather than 300 series stainless steel means corrosion is a possibility. Our old showerhead was completely clad in steel. The use of plastic in the housing is said to reduce clogging from corrosion products. Hard water deposits can still stick, but there are little rubber grommets around each hole in the spray head and I suspect simply pressing on them will remove any deposits. If cleaning proves difficult I will revise my review. At the moment I think this design looks promising and I am very happy with this shower head.
