The clasp folds right onto the front cover as opposed to the magnet style on the short side. This is good because it offers better holding power to keep it closed. As soon as you put cards and cash in wallets, they tend to open up. This clasp design keeps it closed. The kickstand function is good but limited. The phone doesn't snap into place like a "stand" case and tends to slip if the surface it's sitting on is bumped. For example, when someone bumps into a table in passing or tries to watch a movie on an airplane. I'm happy with that. Very happy with this purchase.
