Looking at a 70-year-old teenager

I'd like to know how old some of my fellow reviewers are. I was a teenager in the mid 70's so I lived it! Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" made such a strong impression that this album was a must-have in our 8-track players and at our parties, along with albums from hard rock staples like Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin. So who calls "Love Hurts" a "power ballad"? It never occurred to me to put a label on this song. I prefer not to tag, thanks. Plain and simple, this is a great song. However, the album's title track has become a favorite of my audience. The musicians at my friend's prom (he was a year older than me) played it, despite the rather shocking lyrics by 1977 standards! - and we all, together with the orchestra, called out the words of the chorus (no doubt to the horror of our companions). It was a very important album of the 70's. I am very happy that it is now available on CD. My vinyl copy is a bit worn and I just can't get the 8 tracks to play!

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
