Review on ASICS Gel Nimbus Running Sulphur Spring Sports & Fitness by Brad Knierim

Revainrating 4 out of 5

FINALLY - reinforced eyelets! Unfortunately, the cushioning (and comfort) is gone. :(

A few years ago I wore the Gel Nimbus line and I stopped buying them due to a serious design flaw: the eyelets for the laces were not reinforced and well, strong pulling on the laces when tying it would rip right through the shoe! This happened a couple of times and Asics offered to replace them but that didn't stop it from happening again and again Metal so I'm more than happy my first order for one Asics Gel Nimbus for years to post. When this review was originally written I had just received my first pair of new Gel Nimbus running shoes in about 5 years and now updated after returning them - more on that later. Nimbus 20 feels less soft and springy than previous generations, and a call to Asics confirmed this - they really are less cushioned than previous generations functions. Deer. The Cloud-l comfort I loved on the Nimbus 12, 13, 14 etc is sadly gone. I have a large foot and the 14D fits me perfectly, but the shoes just haven't been comfortable for a very long time. I like the new full mesh shell, it breathes really well - too bad it's not as soft as it used to be. I brought them back and switched to the very comfortable and well-cushioned Brooks Calderas shoes instead (note: the Caldera is a very wide shoe). If they hadn't changed the padding I would still wear them.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • not reliable
