Beautiful as a justified compromise

I didn't write a review at the time of purchase (April 2018, now August 2018) because I couldn't decide how I should feel about this device. On the one hand, I thought the sound wasn't compromised to my liking, even for what it was (a bluetooth speaker) and the sub-$100 price tag. OTOH, the sound was probably what the average tablet/phone user would have hoped for from a good Bluetooth speaker of this size, albeit a bit pricey. There are definitely better sounding speakers out there at this price point and plenty of headphones. But the speakers would be bigger, and the bluetooth and amp would cost something, and all in all the device would be an invention. That, you just pull it out and pick it up by the handle, the highs roll off too early and harsh in my opinion. Small devices don't need to roll high frequencies. Smaller devices (outdoors) should reject low frequencies. They pushed everything they could out of the ground considering the size of the box. But according to a pragmatic and very successful speaker design theory, it is believed that a balanced sound is better than a sound that maximizes the high frequencies. So if lows are missing, then you have to leave out some highs. I think they went too far with this amazingly small box. IAC, I've heard demonstrations of equally tiny (and even tinier) Bluetooth boxes at big stores, and while they're not very different in soft heights, they're not that ruthless. But I still think this box has a cleaner sound. I have nothing to complain about (in comparison). As a Bluetooth device, it connects and disconnects quickly and without retries, just like Bluetooth should. Devices that have an audio output (PCs and many laptops) can also be connected directly. A set of real buttons are logically placed where they are. I press the right button just by touch without looking because it's logical. I wish designers in general had the common sense that this device demonstrates. The main idea when buying this device was to listen to Internet "radio" from a PC or via Bluetooth from a mini-tablet, and not via OTA (Over The Air). OTA turns out to be lousy for my favorite broadcaster, but overall poor compared to the internet. (Of course, there are billions of other Internet radio stations.) Unfortunately, hours of background listening when you turn them on are beyond the range of battery-powered Bluetooth speakers. Of course, I could keep the speaker connected to the mains and charge it all the time, but why the battery, which sooner or later destroys itself if it is fully discharged every day? The mini-tablet is almost always connected to the mains and therefore does not load the battery, so that it is quite satisfied with this use. Like the radio, I can carry this speaker anywhere in the house I'm lucky enough to be. I don't have to take my tablet with me. The fact remains that while not portable, my 15-year-old humble (under $120) powered computer speakers (with subwoofer) sound a lot better.
