I ran this in a barrel of water and this pump worked up to 120psi which is slightly above it's rating. It did expel some plastic dust and some type of grease. I recommend pre-running pumps before you put them in your well so the break-in materials don't contaminate the water. The control box is plastic with switches on the outside so it is not weather proof - at least not for very long. The cheap control box was broken when I received it, but I wouldn't have used it anyway. I mounted the hardware in a SquareD metal outdoor 70A shutoff box.Update: to my surprise the the pump did not fit in my 4 inch well. The problem was the little metal straps that hold the wire guard we're catching on every little protrusion inside the well casing. I had to take them off and replace the lower one with a stainless steel band in the upper one I had to modify so that it would fit behind the cable guard and hold it in place on the sides. After that it went down fine.Update: after 3 years, still running strong and smooth.
