Review on Homdock Platform Structure Mattress Foundation by Jessica Morris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Extremely durable construction that fits all types of mattresses

My wife and I bought this frame in preparation for our upgrade to a Purple mattress so we have both a standard box spring and mattress on this frame had and now have a Purple mattress. This frame replaces the $250 all-cherry wood frame/headboard/footboard. I'm 6'4" and 265 pounds and my wife is 5'11". We're tall people and we're pretty rough with the bed frame. Due to late night feeding sessions and a special needs child, we go to bed and get up multiple times a night. This put so much pressure on our final bed frame that we actually tore several pieces of hardwood at the joints. So far this frame has been extremely solid and hasn't budged during our rides in and out. Packaging: The frame comes in a relatively handy box. There are 5 main parts, one for each side and one for the central structure. The rest are rails and corner joints. It is actually surprisingly light due to its hollow rectangular tube construction and can be handled by 1 person with minimal effort. Assembly: I've seen some complaints about assembly, instructions, and parts. We didn't have any of these problems. The instructions definitely leave something to be desired and will hopefully be improved in the future. The main difficulty with assembly is that the instructions give the part numbers and in my case only 4 corners were marked. Although honestly it wasn't a problem. Preliminary inspection of all parts solves the problem because the two sides are longer than the top and bottom parts. So the only ones that need labels are labeled. In this case, labeling all parts makes it easier to follow the instructions. Total assembly took about 30 minutes: connect the corners to the side rails, connect the top and bottom rails to the corners, install the center structure, install the slats. scratched the black paint in a spot or two because I wasn't paying attention. But it's my fault and you can't see it. As mentioned we had both the standard box springs and mattress as well as just the purple mattress with no box springs. The box spring fits well with no left/right offset and about 1 inch front to back space. Our purple mattress is a little firmer left to right, I had to tuck the sides into the frame a bit and there's still a little room front to back, but it's barely noticeable. Supports both types of mattresses and doesn't tend to shift as we get in and out. No metal-on-metal creaking (which bothered me) All posts have plastic end caps on the bottom but we still chose to add protectors to the bottom as we have hardwoods as it is VERY durable. I'm quite clumsy and have caught my fingers on the racks before. My finger is now purple to match my mattress :). My wife arranges pool noodles around the racks. So be careful if you have big feet.
