Review on ISpring RCC100P High Capacity 5-Stage Under Sink Water Filter Reverse Osmosis RO Drinking Water Filtration System, 100 GPD, Performance-Boosted by Omar Thorndike

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much better than the 75 GPD setup I had prior.

I had an older RO system ,2012, that had served me well but it started sprouting leaks everywhere. I decided it was time for an upgrade. The booster pump on this model is well worth the extra $. The pump provides way more pressure at the spout and also provides more pressure to my fridge Ice maker. The install is pretty straight forward if you're handy. I also installed a dual channel TDS monitor that had to be Teed into the water lines. I opted to put one probe of the monitor just after the first 3 stages prior to the RO filter, to monitor the when it's time to change the first 3 stages. and then I put the second probe at the end after the final stage to monitor My TDS readings at the output of the the whole thing. My water from the town is crap, it comes it at around 350ppm with flouride and chlorine plus all the other crap. It comes out of this filter array at around 12 ppm.I saw people in the reviews complaining about a noisy pump which concerned me a little bit but I took the plunge anyway. The booster pump is nearly silent, I don't know what these people are hearing but it can't possible be this pump. It does have a very slight vibration that if you have something rattling under sink, this might make that thing rattle, but honestly, just find the rattle and isolate it with some sort of dampener. Not rocket science.I opted not to use a remineralizer cartridge, because it scales my espresso machine. I take mineral supplements anyway. I'd much rather have pure clean water for cooking and drinking. This is so close to distilled water that I use it in place of distilled water in most places where it calls for distilled water, such as diluting anti freeze for my vehicles or diluting chemicals etc.If you're considering one of these systems, get one with a booster pump. Take it from a guy who has had both types. This is way better.UPDATE: My system developed a small leak. It was my fault. Where I installed a T fitting after the system to split the water between my fridge and my sink faucet. The T fitting developed a small leak. Fortunately I had set the system inside of a dish pan under the sink. This system comes with a leak stopper that swells up a fibrous disc when exposed to moisture and shuts off the incoming water supply. My system stopped working and as I was diagnosing the problem I noticed some water in the bottom of the pan but my leak stopper was at the bottom of the pan and it had activated and shut off the water. Luckily, the leak stopper prevented a far worse scenario of a ruined cabinet and ruined floors in my kitchen. I'm very happy that this system came with the leak stopper. All systems should include this little device and they should all recommend setting the system over a drip pan with the leak stopper at the bottom of the pan.

Pros
  • With a capacity of 100 gallons per day, this product can produce a large amount of clean drinking water
Cons
  • May require customization to fit specific sink sizes
