The kit contains everything you need to apply this powder ie a brush/pad. I bought a liquid latex that I brush with and it has helped keep my skin clear with this powder. I love how the color looks on the nails. However, I have learned not to apply a top coat beforehand, especially a matte top coat. I applied 2 coats of paint and then applied this powder. To apply I just press a pad into the powder and it's more than enough to cover almost 2 nails. Then I apply a top coat. From what I've learned about colors, if I use a light or white color on my nails, the color of the hologram will look lighter. If I use dark or black, the hologram looks darker. When I apply this to my skin it comes off fairly easily unless I get into a crease, which I use an old toothbrush for.
