High Purity Manganese Sulfate
Dissolving in water gives a clear pink solution of manganese sulphate with a very small amount of finely dispersed insoluble manganese dioxide which settles out as a brown dust or is filtered. A saturated solution is noticeably attracted when held very close to a strong magnet, confirming the expected paramagnetism due to the high magnetic susceptibility of the salt. It is the most economical manganese salt for paramagnetic liquid demonstration.
