Introduction I was very happy when I bought my first Aquasana AQ-4100 over a year ago. While many people have complained about the legality of whether this filter actually removes chlorine, I have noticed an improvement in my shower water quality. Overall I am very satisfied with the product and its performance. If you live in a pre-war building in New York City, you need this filter to keep particles out of the water from years of construction. My hair and skin are more hydrated and I feel a lot cleaner. My towel started to smell horrible after a few showers, but not anymore! My shower smells better and cleaner. There are many benefits to using a shower filter and I highly recommend it. Comparison This filter definitely outperforms dozens of other shower filters I've tried before, both in pressure and water quality. The pressure was actually amazing as it seemed like it was no different than sticking a shower head straight into the water. Those same "multi-stage" filters quickly clogged with little or no water pressure. I changed them every month or so. I prefer higher pressure, it feels like the dirt is coming off and I feel a lot cleaner. This filter lasted 4 to 6 months. Unfortunately. Over time, this filter gets ugly. After about 5 months I notice a sudden drop in water pressure and every time the shower is turned on brown water spurts out for a few seconds. This is your warning that it is time to replace. Then you realize that replacement filters cost the same as full replacement units. You'll find yourself in an endless circle every 6 months buying a new shower filter and head because the price doesn't make sense. That really makes the company look very greedy. Not to mention you have to buy your own plumbing because they chose not to include it. It would be nice if this or any other company included return labels for recycling old filters. Now I have a few used ones laying around that I need to dispose of. They could probably be refurbished and resold.
