The sound unit is connected to the button on the left wrist by a pair of wires, and the connection between the wire and this button is so unreliable that even with careful use it breaks. . Our second didn't even last two days and we watched him the entire time he had him. If all you want is a plush, do yourself a favor and gift one with the batteries removed. Then at least there will be fewer disappointments.
