7.1 surround sound) - Limited software / buggy software. I decided to give Corsair a chance to replace my Logitech G633 as their plastic construction makes them creak and groan with even the slightest movement, which as you can imagine is quite annoying. Void RGB Elite is a combination of plastic and metal, which gives the impression that it's much stronger (if it is, I can't say). I already had the Corsair iCue program because of my Saber RGB mouse, so the Void setup was pretty much plug and play. Unfortunately, this pretty much sums up my good experiences with the Void RGB Elite. After putting on the headset, the non-standard form factor immediately became a problem. The ear pads are too small to cover the entire ear, they rest on top of my ears and the bottom of the ear cups rest on the ear lobes not underneath. This makes the earcups feel like they bulge out at the bottom, away from your head, and this, combined with the very forward headband, means they don't sit very securely on your head (if you lean forward a bit , slide ). Luckily the ear pads are pretty soft so it doesn't hurt, but they fit very poorly compared to my G633 (which completely covers my ears) and ambient noise is VERY crisp due to the small gap they leave. Mouse clicks, keyboard hits, my own voice, I hear everything. I could endure all of these weird quirks if the sound quality was good enough, but unfortunately it's not. Stereo sounds more like mono, somehow loud, but without trifles. Both music and various YouTube videos (podcasts and video games) sounded very strange. The 7.1 surround option was clearly the better of the two, but still far worse than even my desktop stereo speakers or the stereo option on my G633. When swapping places between the Void and the G633, the day/night difference was legal in favor of Logitech. iCue has a few EQ presets for Void, and you can create custom EQs too, but that's pretty much all you get in terms of fine-tuning. and none of them generally help. At one point, iCue gave me a notification that it supports Windows Spatial Audio, which disables all of Corsair's audio enhancements, and honestly? It sounded ten times better than what Corsair was trying to achieve with this headset, and SpaTial Sound is available for everyone. Annoyingly I wasn't able to do many tests after that as I noticed my iCue software was outdated and after a quick update there is now almost no discernible difference between the stereo and 7.1 options. Not only that, but apparently a new "feature" in the latest version of iCue is that changing a parameter is accompanied by very loud beeps in the headset. There were no options to reduce or disable the indicator, so I just gave up on Void altogether at that point. The G635 is a bit more expensive, but I've already ordered one of these instead. I will return Void RGB Elite as soon as possible.
