Review on Vivitar Professional Ring Light Stand by Terrance Palau

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fragile construction but shiny

- Cable is 36" long from lamp to 2" control switch and total length is 76" - All plastic body, plastic tripod but the section connecting them, is pivotable The metal tripod can not be fixed in the closed position The tripod also has no height adjustment, it is fully open or fully closed Made in China The light ring measures 6 inches, but the tripod needs a clear area of 12 inches x 12 inches, to sit on - No attachment for clips - Anti-slip coating on the ends of the tripod - 3 backlight colors, a bunch of brightness settings A hit on the mark was the control module It's the same as my lighted magnifier and doesn't work properly I gotta keep it disabled because it turns on randomly I find it awkward too The up and down buttons are separated by an illuminated button. Not that important, but still stupid. I am very disappointed that the tripod does not have the option to adjust the spread of the legs. I think I have an idea why, because the construction is so cheap and flimsy, it would easily tip over if the legs weren't so far apart. After crying about it, the light itself is fine. I'll never use it for vlogging (nor should 85% of bloggers), but my goal is to get center shots without casting shadows or highlights on the subject itself. This lighting gets bright enough to show the details and this ring helps a lot. There is also a slot on the side of the rotation module that allows it to point fully down, which is perfect for my needs. Tripod, it's great for my needs.
