These were made to decorate the Christmas tree but we put them on the windows instead. They are shorter than normal window candles, so for some of them we put them in the tips of old candles. They are not as bright as an AC powered window candle but much closer to a real candle. The shimmer and color are beautiful and natural. You can only turn them on and off with the remote control, so keep them handy and don't lose them. The maximum reliable remote control range is about 3-4 feet. There is a brightness control on the remote control that doesn't come with the candles, but you don't need it either. Each candle uses one AA battery. We used them 6 hours every night for about three weeks and never had to change the battery except for the one I left on day and night as an experiment, which lasted at least a week.
