Review on Sony WM FS222 Walkman Cassette Weather by Bob Fasho

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not for those who need high quality sound

This Sony portable cassette player is well thought out and built to last. Unfortunately, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Initially I was unhappy with the headphones which provided somewhat thin and "tinny" music reproduction which I spent three weeks testing this player (which I ended up returning for credit). I was also surprised by the unacceptable distortion during playback at relatively low volumes. I recently bought a Sony Psych CD Walkman, model D-EJ360, which, by comparison, is so superior in sound quality to the Sony WM-FS222 S2 Sports Cassette Walkman in question that it became literally impossible for me to hear the cassette player. without feeling irritation and resentment (hence the need to return!). Two other disappointing features of this S2 product are worth noting. The included "belt clip" is NOT a rigid plastic attachment to the body of the player itself, but is an addition to the flexible strap used to hold the player in your hand. Therefore, it does not provide a secure fit when actively walking or running. And there is no auto reverse function. Which seems like a significant downside considering the price of the product. After submitting a well-documented claim for a Sony t-shirt refund upon receipt of this player, I was finally notified that I was not eligible for the gift as I did not provide the required UPC code and proof of purchase. A sad end to a totally disappointing experience with a company I expected so much more from.
