Review on Anthem Athletics 7-inch Men's Cross-Training Gym Shorts - Hyperflex Design by Jim Reinhardt

Great fabric and fit, lots of little issues

I usually buy cheap Old Navy gym shorts but I find they tighten me up a bit on squats and other powerlifting. I figured they would provide good 4-way stretch without spending over $70 on Lululemon or Rhone shorts. Size XL fit me perfectly (6ft 4in, 230ft) and hit just above the knee. They feel great when climbing - much better than traditional polyester sports shorts. Love the feel of the fabric, soft yet durable and it stretches great. The shorts undermine a number of small issues. The pockets are VERY deep but tight. They're actually almost perfect for my XL phone, but for a wallet or keys you'll slip in from the bottom because you can't put your hand in your pocket. The zippers feel cheap and I don't expect them to last long. The drawstring is on the outside of the waistband which I don't like and doesn't quite fit, only the front half of the shorts. My shorts had a manufacturing defect where the drawstring didn't fit on one side and appear to be properly sewn into the lining. It pulled straight out easily and now I guess I'll have to cut the other side off to make it fit. Haven't heard any similar complaints so it's probably a - time error. For $30 I'm hoping for better quality control. I would like Anthem to improve the design a bit, improve quality control and keep the same material. I really wanted to love these shorts so I'm disappointed I have to keep looking.
