These protective underpants have good protection and fit me well. I'm normally a size 34 or 36 waist and I got the XL and I'm happy with the sizing. For a 36-38 inch waist, XXL would probably fit best. I guess if you are bigger than that, these may be too small but they do stretch somewhat so they could still work.The main protection is on the knees, lower back, and thighs. There is also good hip padding as well as the upper rear leg area. The knee guards are built in to the pants so they won't fall down but they can be tightened for a better fit. Somewhat loose pants fit well over these and they aren't too noticeable. Overall construction is good and they should last a while. You do have to hand wash these, but that's to be expected with all the plastic parts sewn into them. Overall, happy with these. Comfortable even on long rides and an easy way to give me some extra protection if I ever need it. I've only fallen once and I wish I was wearing something like these at the time.
