It's best to buy ink if you don't already have it. The ink I was supposed to get was blue, but I got a very pale gray with almost no pigmentation. Pigmentation is very important for line work, which I use a pen for, and I think it will be very important for lettering as well. Maybe it was just a specific color that was sent to me, but I had to buy more ink separately. The positive thing about the pen is that it writes very fluently and the ink lasts a long time. Unlike regular fountain pens, this one is more comfortable for left-handers because you don't pull the pen in the opposite direction that the nib opens. Neither handle opens, so direction doesn't matter. I think the only downside for me with the pen so far has been less control over ink flow, but maybe I'm just not used to this type of pen yet. may be? Overall, I think it's definitely worth the price.
