Sponge for dishes - there is probably such a thing in absolutely every home. Even if people practically do not wash the dishes at all, but use the dishwasher, the sponge will definitely lie by the sink. It is unlikely that anyone had thought about which sponge is better. I took it without looking at all - if only there were houses with a small margin. This continued until one day I grabbed Scotch-Brite sponges. then I didn’t pay much attention, but when a month or two later the sponge looked just as good, my friend realized that something was wrong here ... Ordinary sponges have always served - I don’t remember now, but two months was their limit. I remember well that the washing dark part immediately came off from them, sometimes it remained in tufts on the dishes, and in some cases this part became soft like cotton wool and no longer washed anything. The effect was the same on both sides. I also remember that they quickly clogged with fat and food particles, became heavy, sticky and I didn’t want to pick them up at all. And we didn’t have a dishwasher then - we had to change them often, hence the constant supplies in the kitchen cabinet. With Scotch-Brite sponges, my world just turned upside down! Until now, I don’t understand how it is possible to change the manufacturing technology of a sponge so much that it will serve from month to month without losing either its shape or the washing abrasive part and at the same time not clogging with grease and food residue! Honestly, until you try it, it seems like some kind of magic. And when you try and get used to it, it still seems unrealistic. Sponges are sold in different packages, have different abrasiveness and are also designed for different purposes. Now I came across a pack of INTENSIVE sponges - a green abrasive washing part. These are the hardest sponges. You can even wash a super-burnt pot or pan with them, but you can also scratch the surface with them - there is nothing to do, especially with a new sponge. So here you have to be careful. The sponge is not very suitable for glass. For the first time, out of ignorance, I washed glasses and scratches remained on them. From afar, they are not very noticeable, but upon closer inspection, they are clearly visible. Fortunately, the glasses were not expensive. All information is on the back. Image enlarges on click. In the upper part you can see that there are three types of sponges - intensive, green. Just right for pots and something sooooo dirty, stuck and fried. It is also perfect for domestic and technical needs. I once washed porcelain stoneware - the effect is wonderful. Purple is universal. In theory, just for this rest of the dishes. But surprisingly, I rarely see it for sale. Got caught a couple of times by force. It has a purple abrasive surface and the sponge itself is thinner and of a different shape. Blue - for glass, glasses and everything that can be scratched. It also occurs quite often. Although in general I don’t see these sponges in all stores and often they simply aren’t anywhere nearby, so I always take more than one pack, and if the pack ends, then I’m already starting to look for the next one. Once we did not find the sponges of this company and my husband brought the usual ones. Well, after Scotch-Brite, I just couldn't use THIS! Outwardly, the Scotch Bright sponge is no different from the usual one. The shape is different, I saw both this and the usual rectangular one without bulges and depressions. Nothing special on the back either. Dark green abrasive coating, which by the way looks quite thin and not at all thick. Through it, a yellow sponge generally shines through. Here it is clearly visible. To the touch, the new sponge is the same as all the others - hard, rough. After all, cheap ordinary sponges have the same sensations when you touch a sponge just pulled out of the package. Since once we accidentally bought ordinary sponges, not the cheapest by the way, I can show for comparison the abrasive part of an ordinary sponge. In the photo they are side by side, Scotch Bright is on the left. Outwardly, the differences are almost invisible. And now there will be a spectacle not for the faint of heart. I still have a Scotch Bright sponge, which is not much, not a little TWO YEARS! This is one of the first sponges that appeared with us immediately after the move. And she's actually two years old. At first, she washed the dishes for about six months, if not more, then, practically without losing her appearance, she went to technical needs - to wash the sink, window sill, bathtub and stuff like that. In this form, it exists to this day, although, of course, it’s time to throw it away, especially since there is already a replacement, but, you know, it’s lying around and your hands don’t reach. But here I was able to demonstrate how much a Scotch Bright sponge can really serve! At the same time, please note that the washing surface, although notably shabby, is still in place and, by the way, is still hard. The color of the sponge is not from dirt, but from detergents. All sorts of Domestos and Silites (my favorite products), as it turned out, change the color of the sponge itself. But they disinfect it well, which is probably why it did not rot and become moldy and something else. In fact, it is used almost every day. In general, see for yourself. When washing dishes, the sponge is also perfectly cleaned, it is worth washing it with a regular dishwashing detergent. As I already wrote, it does not clog with grease, does not get heavy, and every time all the dirt is perfectly rinsed out of it. Perhaps that is why she serves so much. Therefore, I can definitely say that I’m unlikely to ever switch to other sponges. Yes, Scotch-Brite sponges will cost more than cheap penny sponges, but you can see the service life yourself, otherwise I won’t even write about how much better they wash dishes. I can only say one thing - definitely better. So I made a choice for myself. I am very glad that one day I grabbed them without looking in the store.
