I bought a Reolink E1 zoom device to monitor my front door and driveway. I also have a Reolink E1 Pro and another brand of 1080p PTZ camera so I can provide a basis for comparison. I wanted more resolution and magnification because I still have a long way to go. Even at 4MP resolution on the E1 Pro, the images look a bit digital when I look down my 40ft street (license plates are illegible). I was hoping to get a better picture with the 3x optical zoom and 5MP zoom. Short answer: it got a little better (still couldn't reach the license plates of cars on the street). Even when I used the full 3x zoom, the image was only marginally better than the E1 Pro 4MP. I have an older 1080p camera and you can actually see the difference between 5 megapixels and 1080p. If I had a choice, I would choose the highest possible resolution and the highest possible frames per second. The 1080p camera was helpful for determining general things e.g. B. who fits. But when they weren't around, it was difficult to see their features (forget about scaling) Pros: Β· Easy setup; Just follow the instructions in the app and it's done in less than 2 minutes. Works almost anywhere you have an internet connection. I have old PTZ cameras and they are unstable. I was able to connect to Reolink over cellular, public Wi-Fi, etc. 3x zoom - PTZ seems to work - I don't use it very often but find it handy when I want to monitor other areas PTT - worked great. As expected, there's a bit of a delay, but volume was clear when zooming in on the E1 and over the mic. Being able to display smooth, balanced or 5 megapixels is great as it can store data through the cell and makes playback smoother. I use fluent most of the time unless I want more information. I switch playback to 5 megapixels when I need detail. Disadvantages Β· Autofocus β In contrast to the E1 pro, the focus of the image has to be adjusted with the zoom option. It was difficult for me to constantly adjust the focus. Motion detection is pixel based. So if the trees moved in the wind, I would get a false alarm. It got to the point where I turned off notifications. I tried lowering the sensitivity but couldn't find the right balance. Suggestions Β· Preset PTZ points - On my old cameras without Reolink it is possible to add preset PTZ points. It was pretty handy. Β· Playback option with 1 button skip forward or backward 10 sec. That would be nice instead of dragging the timeline back and forth. I usually just want to jump a few seconds.
